iPad sound goes out when playing games
This started happening with my old iPad2. I’d be playing a game and all of a sudden the sound would go out. A restart would fix the problem but it would happen again after awhile. I tried not to bring any settings from my old iPad to the new iPad 11 but there was a lot of content I wanted to bring over, so when I used iTunes maybe some settings transferred as well.
Anyway, it’s now happening on my brand new iPad as well. This latest-version iPad does NOT have a mute button. I’ve checked the control panel, accessibility settings, sound settings, etc., and I don’t see anything that would cause the problem. I read an article that said to check all this stuff. The article also mentioned that if in even one game you mute sound or music it can cause a sound problem for all games, and I DO set each game to mute the music. But if the solution to that is forcing me to listen to the music in the games, that’s NOT an OK solution! I’m usually listening to the TV or my own music. I DO want to hear the sound effects of the game, though—it’s not as much fun if you don’t hear the bells and explosions or the little click when a puzzle piece finds its home.
As I say, a restart fixes the problem temporarily but it always comes back. Oh, and even when the game sounds are out, I can still hear the sound on YouTube videos.
Has anyone had this problem and figured out how to fix it without having to put up with cheesy game music, or muting the game altogether? By the way, I used my iPad 2 without this problem for years—it was only in the last several months it started happening. I put it down to the fact that the device was getting pretty old and slow (it also crashed a lot), but now I’m wondering if the problem is created by something in the operating system (even tho the iPad 2 OS can no longer be updated and is stuck at 9.3 or something like that).
thanks!
