16 or 32 gigs of RAM in a 21.5 inch 2017 iMac?

Hey

I'm looking to upgrade my 21.5 inch iMac (mid-2017). The authorized service will do the work and they allow to bring your own RAM and SSD. So yes, I'm going to replace the HDD with SDD and thinking of upgrading RAM on the same go.

It currently has 8 gigs, now i'm torn between 16 and 32. The iMac is used mostly on the weekends so to speak, but whenever I do something, it's usually FCPX.

Is 32 overkill or wise while trying to think ahead (ie new Mac OS version) or updated FCPX.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I will go for 32 then. Since i'm not too familiar with different RAM types, simply asking this - would this work with mid-2017 4k 21.5 inch iMac?

If you are not in the US, OWC has a UK/European partner:

I believe Crucial also has a site to serve the EU.

I share den.thed's concern over not ordering directly. Within the last two weeks I saw a post about RAM where it was ordered from a site similar to Amazon and the RAM did work properly in a Mac. Crucial and OWC will ship you Mac-friendly RAM.
