Apple Thunderbolt Display with 2020 Hp Spectre x360

I have a brand new HP Spectre x360 with two USB-C Thunderbolt ports. I am trying to connect it to an older Apple Thunderbolt Display using an Apple USB-C to Thunderbolt adapter. The THunderbolt display won't turn on.

Can I use my older Apple Thunderbolt Display with 2020 Hp Spectre x360 Model 15-dfl033dx, ProdID: 7UT64UA#ABA?

The MacBook Pro doesn't recognize the display. However, the display and its adapter are working perfectly fine with a MacBook Air (2018). Is the 2020 Mac Mini compatible with 2010 Apple LED Cinema Display? Hello, I just tried using the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 adapter between a new 2020 Mac Mini and a 2010 Apple LED Cinema Display (27" model with three USB on the back), but the display does not seem to turn on with the new Mac Mini... any ideas why? I was told by two different people on two seperate occasions at the Apple store that this would indeed work. thanks!
