Not all apps locked during downtime in Family Sharing

Hi there, I have enabled family sharing and screen time monitoring on my sons Iphone11, but it appears that if an app is running during the initial period of downtime (when the app is not allowed) the one app continues to be able to be used when it should not be able to be accessed at all. This seems to be a glitch in the very helpful screen time feature. If not please let me know how I need to remedy. Thanks for your time in this matter.

Hello CyberChick123,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that you have noticed some apps are accessible when Downtime is enabled.

Begin with the following troubleshooting steps. Be sure to test and see if there is any change after each step:

1 - Go to Settings > Screen Time > [name] > Downtime / App Limits.

    • Verify that the option to "Block at Downtime" / "Block at End of Limit" is enabled.
    • If you're not seeing that option, check to see that you have set up a Screen Time passcode.

2 - Go to Always Allowed section, be sure the app is not listed in this section.

3 - Go to the Family Sharing settings > turn off "Ask to Buy" for this family member from your device. Wait 15-60 seconds, and turn it back on.

4 - Change the Screen Time passcode for this family member. This ensures that they haven't guessed the passcode to override the setting.

5 - If you have the setting "Share Across Devices" turned on for this family member, turn off the feature and test again.

All the best!
