Viewing storage space on a flash drive on iPad Pro

I have the latest ios and iPad Pro. I have several usb drives including a portable SSD drive, all of which work just fine for manual file transfer on my iPad. My question is, now that we can use portable storage, how can I view remaining space left on a portable drive? I find it odd that we can finally use these devices, but have no idea when they are close to being full.
