Spaces, Multiple Displays and Command-Tab Application Switcher

This is kind of a complicated question, but I will try my best to explain what I'm trying to do.

  • I have windows for the same application open and placed on separate displays.
  • Neither of the windows are on the Desktop (Space) that is currently being displayed on either display.

When I command-tab to the application in question, the desktop is switched to the application on the primary display, only, but I want to see it on the secondary display as well. Is there a way to bring it up without having to click on the application on the secondary display's dock? I've tried command-~ but it doesn't work.

Hi Jeanne Troyer,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having some issues with Spaces across your displays. I’ll be happy to help.

Have you tried using video mirroring with your external display? If not, it should allow you to do exactly what you want. You can read more about this option here:

Use external monitors with your Mac

You can read more about using Mission Control and switching between spaces on your Mac in these links:

I hope this helps.
