MacBook shuts down or Restarts instead of sleeping
I am using a MacBook Pro 2018 - Touch Bar, 4 Thunderbolt Port, Running macOS Catalina 10.15.3
My Mac is not sleeping properly, I have my Energy Saving settings set to:
Power Adapter
- Turn display off after 1 hour
- not checked - Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off
- checked - put hard disk to sleep when ever possible
- checked - wake for wifi access
- checked - enable power nap
I will come back to my computer and all my applications are closed, all the work I have done previously is closed, external servers are disconnected, iTunes is closed. I have to enter my password (Apple Watch will not unlock and Touch ID "requires password").
This behaviour has been the same since the day I purchased this Mac. I have gone through multiple versions of macOS and have spoken to a few apple support agents. I have changed my power settings to see if it will do the same and it does, after a few times of going to sleep. If I make a change to my settings it will remember that for maybe a 24 hour period and then revert back to what ever its little mind wants to do. Even when the settings are still selected it will do the opposite.
There are times where I will never have to type in my password, or use my Touch ID, or unlock it with my Apple Watch. The security is random as well as the restarting. My Apple Watch will only unlock it within a day or two of me going though, unchecking the setting, restarting, checking the setting again, and then restarting. It will hold the setting for a maximum of 24 hours or so.... after that it reverts back to not using it even when the setting is still selected ON.
