Ear speaker on iPhone XS sounds distorted like its blown.

Is there a solution for this issue ?

ive had my iPhone XS for 16 months. Went to an att store and they suggest I turn it in to the insurance plan I carry on the phone.

what makes this situation even worse is I paid $1000 for this phone. Att is giving them away free now with a 30 mo plan.

iPhone 11 is $699. I’ve paid $533 so far.

post purchase dissonance to the max.

Hello Rhythmatician,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you're hearing distorted sound on your iPhone XS. I can understand the frustration with having a device that doesn't work as expected, and would be happy to help point you towards a resolution.

Is there accidental damage to the iPhone, has it come in contact with liquid, or was a hardware issue identified leading ATT to recommend that you file an insurance claim on the iPhone? If none of those scenarios apply, I suggest following the troubleshooting steps outlined in the resources below:

  1. If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support
  2. If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound isn't clear on your iPhone - Apple Support

If you're still not hearing sound properly, consider visiting an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for further diagnosis:

Take care.
