Ipod 6.1.6 isnt picked up on itunes

I have an old iPod touch Software version 6.1.6. When I go on latest itunes, computer picks device up but itunes says "Itunes is waiting for Windows Update to install the driver for this iPod". I believe issue may lie with the fact my ipod is old. Is it possible to download an old itunes? If so, can someone please send me a link?

Last Itunes update (12.10.10) Have had my ipod for about 15 years now, laptop wouldnt recognize my ipod being plugged in. It's happened before, plenty of times, and I was always able to fix it by trying different things in these communities. This time I realized, for the first time as far as I can recall, Itunes 12.10.10 update not only didn't install USB drivers, it erased the drivers I already had. So I haven't been able to update my ipod for the last couple months. Also, I saw something about an Itunes update 12.11, yet everytime I open my Itunes and "check for update" it says Itunes 12.10.10 is the latest version. Can anybody help me with that? Is there a way to update just the drivers? Is Itunes 12.11 legit? Why wouldn't my Itunes already know about that?

Ipod A1136 wont connect to ITunes after pressing "Do not show again" Hi, I have an old Ipod A1136 that I am trying to reset. When I first connected it to my computer, I received a message in ITunes: ITunes does not have the software for IPod, Download Software? I accidentally pressed do not show again. Now I can´t find a way to get whatever software ITunes was trying to install. the problem is not the driver for the IPod, that´s up to date. Kind regards, Miglio

Hello,

It sounds like your Windows PC's Windows Update is currently running and you would need to wait for Windows Update to complete before restoring your iPod.
