5505 error when trying to enable home sharing in Catalina

Home sharing has always worked fine before. Now that i updated to Catalina, I can't activate it. Console is always showing an auth failure. Definitely not that though.

Tried deauthorizing the computer in iTunes and reauthorizing it. Didn't help. Rebooted a few times as well.

error	20:35:46.037079-0500	SharingPrefsExtension	Home Sharing could not be activated because the Apple ID or password was incorrect.
error	20:35:46.037127-0500	SharingPrefsExtension	mspe> HomeSharing activation failed with code: 5505  error: <private>

Not sure if 2fa is necessary or now but it never sends me anything. Never needed 2fa for previous version to enable home sharing so i'm guessing it's not that.

Looks like I had to sign out of iCloud on my iMac and sign back in. Always a pain and risky to do that. Had to sign in and reboot 3 times to get iCloud to stop complaining that "some services won't work until you sign in". Eventually i'd signed in enough times and rebooted enough times that everything is working.

Then turning on home sharing was successful.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand you are trying to set up Home Sharing with macOS Catalina installed. If you have not done so already, please update your Mac to the most recent version of macOS Catalina, which is 10.15.3. Then, take a look at the resource below for setting up Home Sharing. In macOS Catalina, the settings are in System Preferences > Sharing > Media Sharing. Restart your computer to refresh it after after making these changes.

Use Home Sharing to share media from a computer to other devices

If the issue persists after making these changes, restart the computer in safe mode and test again.

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

So safe mode didn't help. Another user account did though.

So appears to just be an issue with my login.

I presume I could reset my Apple ID login.. but I really don't want to do that. My account is used on so many computers that I have no physical access too. (grandparents and other relatives I manage) its a real chore to change it.
