Failed to open a session on the 'device"

I purchased a new IMAC in November 2019. OS 10.15.3. Neat Scanner ND-1000.

Downloaded neat software. Unable to scan. When I click on SCAN message "Failed to open a session on the device". How do I open a session? Please advise

Found a soulution - this worked


Open your scanner

  1. Connect your scanner to your Mac, plug it in, and turn it on.
  2. Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners.
  3. fSelect your scanner in the list at the left, then click Open Scanner on the right.
  4. If your scanner is also a printer, you may need to click Scan on the right before you can click Open Scanner.
  5. If you don’t see an Open Scanner button, you may need to set up your scanner, or check the documentation that came with your scanner to see how to perform scans.

Please Note: Neat supports MacOS Mojave 10.14 as well as two (2) major releases back - High Sierra 10.13 and Sierra 10.12. Neat Scanner Drivers may work for older OS versions but agent support is not provided on older OS versions.

I have MacOS 10.15.3 brand new 2019 IMAC. I used NEAT scan software on my 2006 IMAC (Sounds like a hair dryer).

I did see this article

I am not going back a OS version.
