Why do my text messages got to "Send with effect" "Bubble", "Screen" with question of SLAM, LOUD, GENTLE, INVISIBLE INK and then just sits there -- never goes anywhere.

You are holding down the blue up arrow to send a message too long which gets to that screen. Just tap the arrow quickly and the message will send.
