iPhone 7 battery drain since iOS 13.x

Before I upgraded I checked my battery life and it was 87%. Battery lasted apx 1,5 day, now it nearly can't last a day (now at 86% battery life). I doubt that 1% can do the differece. Today I'm allready at 9% on only 10 Hours (and 8 of the hours I'm at work, and don't use my phone wery much). My use pattern hasn't changed - So really don't get it....... Theres no doubt at all, it changed with iOS13.x - Any ideas on how to fix it? Is there a 3rd party app that can show background processes on iPhone and their battery drain or CPU/GPU usage, so that it might be possible to see what drains. Can't see anything from buildin Battery information, and i don't quite frankly thrust it.

Kind Regards

Kim

Hmm, I'll have to say: I don't buy it. Adjusting to new iOS....... I've had iSO13.x for a long time now, really strange Phone hasn't adjusted in all the time since they released first build of iOS13. Yesterday, had screentime on 1h40m and 16% battery left, when day was over.

Considering to test:

  1. Close all Safari tabs (even though I Close Safari, when not use, I often have multiple open tabs)
  2. Disable Phone capabilities for one day, by pulling the SIM card - That way it can drop Cellular tranmission/roaming from the "power eaters" list.

Just thinking this Could be the new "Apple gate - If You can't slow them, You can eat the battery/standby time" = New units sold? Not to loose objectivity or accuse anyone, but it gets You kind of thinking, or?

Phone was Fully charged over night, apx. unplugged at 0720 and this is at 1810 with only 44 min screen time. Even used bellow average use - Nope, theres something rotten going on in Denmark. 14 of the minutes are Safari. Unfortunately this doesn't show when charger is plugged in/out, maybe a suggestion for battery management in future. And the stuff is in Danish.

Have you enabled Siri?

In my case, I have fully disabled Siri and it did became better, but after a few weeks I started to face the same issue again. I've called then Apples Support and they adviced me to factory reset my phone and restore my phone. After doing that, it was fine for a day and suddenly the problem was here again.

Yesterday I did an experiment: I tried not to use my phone for 24 hours. Except for two 10 minutes long phone calls and the messages I've received, I did not use my phone at all. Using more than 50% of battery for a phone, that was almost not used at all, is definitely too much. Something is wrong here. And what's also weird is, that Siri consumed is eating the battery, even if it's completely turned off.

My iPhone 7 was exactly the same, day and a half of light use, down to less than half a day following the 13.3 update. I eventually did a new phone rebuild, including firmware, no 3rd party apps, everything that I was advised to do to save power, and without use, just on standby, I could get between 15 and 17 hours. I was losing 35 to 40% overnight in airplane mode!

I have passed mine to a family member with a battery case fitted, (weighs like a brick), and hoping a patch will be put out, because this problem is all over the internet, though not accepted by Apple it would seem.

I do not believe for a fleeting second the battery has suddenly failed for so many people coincident with the 13 update. I would ignore battery health, it's a poor guestimate which really needs refining.

I now have two phones, one is my old 5s which will still do standby for over two days no problem, same old battery, and is used for Apple functions like interact with my Apple watch and iPad, the other I use generally making calls etc., which goes for 3 days easy, but it's not an iPhone, which is a great pity as I really liked my iPhone 7.

Hi Jose

Unfortunately, no. However, I have found, that closing Safari (even though it should run i low power consumption mode when inactive), and occonatial reboots adds time. This would indicate a power management problem. Thats why I was looking for a 3rd party app, that would show CPU, GPU, and power use of background tasks, to make an indication of where the problem is. The day I took the screenshots, phone also was much hotter that normal, also an indication of high CPU or GPU use, I would suspect.

I am having the same problem. My iPhone 7 also gets hot when I use it and does not charge when plugged into a computer. I contacted Apple support and after running a diagnostic said that there is nothing wrong with the phone and that it is adjusting to the new iOS and to give it some more time. I also noticed that the calendar app is using 20-30% of the battery.

Apple replaced the phone under warranty at the beginning of the year and it was fine until the new iOS and watchOS came out.

I have to agree, the very fact that Apple is not accepting battery drain is caused by ios 13 update is still really a big problem, and has lost them many customers from what I have read on the internet, including me, though my 5s is still used with my watch and iPad. Original battery!

I suspect the battery drain may not be reversed, as the problem it must have caused massive wear on batteries in iPhones affected by now. As previously posted, I have factory restored my iPhone several times, including using it as a new phone with no additional apps.

It was a great phone to me prior to this.

I think Apple should half the cost for a battery replacement for all affected phones, and saying for some phones that your battery is covered by warranty and not to worry, could indicate they have a battery problem with quality control.

My used "new" phone is just over two years old, and according to the seller was used for work, yet has 96% capacity still!, which is what I would expect buying an iPhone costing up to £1000.
