receiving calls and texts on multiple phones

I am in the process of getting a work phone and rather then carry around 2 phones I would like to carry 1.

Is there a way I can have the calls and texts sent to my personal phone passed along to my work phone?

I know you can do this with imessage calls but will it work with messages and calls through the carrier and how do I do this? Phones would be a 6s and an 8.

This can be done and I have done this in the past until the dual SIM (1 eSIM + 1 Physical SIM) iPhone X came along.

You have an iPhone 6s and an iPhone 8 (assuming the iPhone 8 is the work phone).

  1. One crucial requirement is that both of the iPhones must be on the same Apple ID. If this is not an option for you then stop right here because this one is a deal breaker.
  2. Set up call forwarding on your iPhone 6s to your iPhone 8 from settings (easy part)
  3. Activate Messages on both iPhone using the same Apple ID that you established in point 1.
  4. In Messages on your iPhone 6s (after activation) set up Text Message Forwarding and list your iPhone 8 in it.
  5. Finally, one thing that you should know is that you will need to leave your iPhone 6s always on and connected to either a cellular connection or a WiFi connection to relay the SMS messages to your iPhone 8.

The above was written with the assumption that you are comfortable with setting up and activating Messages and understand how Apple ID functions. Thanks.

This has nothing to do with your carrier forwarding your text messages.

This has everything to do with the Text Message Forwarding function activated on your iPhone so that your iPhone can relay (forward) those messages (iMessages and SMS) to another iPhone using the SAME Apple ID.

Did you check in Settings-->>Messages-->>Send & Receive that your Apple ID (email address) is listed there? Are both phones on the same Apple ID in that setting? If NOT then tap on the Apple ID section, sign out and sign back in with the right Apple ID.

See if that works to bring the Text Message Forwarding option back into play.
