ScannerEventWatcher
Does anyone know what this is? ScannerEventWatcher. It continuously pops up as a hung application. I've googled and can not find anything on this.

It sounds like a program you installed, and from its name it implies it's used with a scanner.
Please examine the contents of the following folder
/Library/Image Capture/Devices/
To open that folder copy and paste that entire line in the Finder's Go menu > Go to Folder... field.
Make it look like this
... and click the Go button.
