Use old iphone to set up new iphone

If I use my old iphone to set up my new iPhone does that transfer any keylogger, malware, virus, or spy apps (for lack of a better word) or any apps that have been set up by hackers that breech my security? Or should I just set up manually? I have iphone 7 plus new devise is iphone 8 plus.

Unless you jailbroken your phone, there is no virus. You would not have any keylogger or other apps on it unless you have let someone have your Apple ID and password, and access to your device for an extended period of time.

However, if you are concerned there may be something on your old device, then set the new phone up as new, not using a backup,
