Unable to Search Apple Music On My Desktop

I just subscribed to Apple Music. I am using it on my desktop (Windows). I don't know how to use the Search function on Apple Music to search the various music they have. I have read a number of posts on this issue and they all say to use the magnifying glass that is either on the upper right or lower right of the screen. There is no magnifying glass anywhere on my Apple Music screen, so I am stuck.

How do I search for songs on Apple Music, using my desktop? (Please do not talk about searching on any other device; I only use Apple Music on my desktop.)

Thank you!

Windows, Windows 6

On a PC, think of it this way, iTunes and Apple Music are one and the same. iTunes can be called a program or application, it doesn't matter. iTunes is the program/application you use on a PC running Windows to access your Apple Music subscription.

First Thing:

With an Apple Music subscription you essentially get unlimited free downloads of any music in the Apple library for as long as you maintain your monthly Apple Music subscription. The "catch" is that you LEASE that music from Apple - you don't own it. If or when you cancel your subscription, all that music will go away. You can't convert any of the songs to another format (like MP3) or burn it to a CD. See:

Add and download music from Apple Music or buy music from the iTunes Store - Apple Support

As the above link says you can also BUY music (you buy each song or album individually) and download it from the iTunes Store (with or without an Apple Music subscription). In that case, you OWN the music you bought and can do whatever you want with it for as long as you like. If, for some reason, you delete it on your PC you can redownload it at any time. See the "How to redownload music on iTunes for Windows" section in:

Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books - Apple Support

Second Thing:

What you are asking is very convoluted. What do you want to listen to your music on? I assumed it was just your PC since you said you are not interested in your spreading music over all your devices. If so, then I'll restate my first point - AM & iTunes are the same thing on a PC. If you want to listen on other Apple devices, then you can easily do it with a an Apple Music subscription (for music you LEASE or OWN) for as long as you subscribe by syncing all (or some) of those devices. See:

Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music - Apple Support

Otherwise, for music you OWN, you can sync your iTunes library to other Apple devices by following these steps:

Use iTunes to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer - Apple Support

And, in this case, you can covert them (for non-Apple devices) and/or burn them to a CD:

I'm not sure how to answer your questions about playlists & searching since iTunes & AM are the same thing on a PC. iTunes is just a program/application for accessing your Apple Music subscription on a PC. Given that, you should be able to sort playlists and do searches.

If that is still unclear, feel free to ask again.

Oh, I see that when I am in iTunes, but this isn't iTunes. It's Apple Music. And when I am in Apple Music, there isn't any search box, magnifying glass or anything else.

Perhaps I don't understand how Apple Music works. I thought it would enable me to have an independent music location (independent from iTunes) where I could make playlists (from the Apple Music songs) and/or download songs to my iTunes library if I so desired, etc. Is that how it works?

"Application"? I'm an old guy. On desktop computers, we use programs; on cell phones, we use applications. That's the first problem. Secondly, I'm not sure what you mean when you ask what application/program I am using. Are you referring to the operating system? Windows 7. Are you referring to the program I use to access Apple Music? I don't know - the only way I know how is through iTunes. I open iTunes and then hit "For You" in the iTunes menu, top center.

See, here's the deal - I am not interested in spreading my music over all of my devices. I only want to do two things with Apple Music. I want to be able to download songs to my iTunes library. Do free downloads come with the ten bucks per month fee? Unlimited downloads? The second thing I want to do with AM is listen to music on it, as opposed to listening to music on iTunes. Can that be done? If so, can I organize AM playlists that have nothing to do with iTunes? And, finally, if all that is possible, is it also possible to search AM independently from searching iTunes? If so, how do I do it?
