External hard drive not showing up

Apple Genius bar recently had to wipe clean my hard drive. I reinstalled from my external hard drive using Time Machine (which is partioned between Time Machine and Super Duper).

Yesterday I tried to access Photos but got the message: Photos cannot find the System Photo Library named “Photos Library.photoslibrary”. I opened 'Other' and let the gray wheel spin overnight.

I then looked for the external hard drive in Finder and did not find it. I also tried to use Super Duper but it also could not find.

However I just was able to open Time Machine and it has been backing up.

What to do in order to re-install "Photos" and to access "Super Duper"?

I don't know what's going on with the external hard drive. Time Machine and SuperDuper seem to load randomly (I see them in the 'Location' in Finder).

Last night I left the computer in Sleep mode with both of them showing.

This morning when I woke the computer I get these messages in the upper right of the screen.

This shouldn't happen just by putting the computer in Sleep mode, should it?
