LaCie external disc - 'Read-only'

Hi,

My newly purchased LaCie Rugged external disc is activated by IT technicians of the university that I work in within my office PC using Windows. Now, I cannot access the disc in my Macbook Air as it says that the disc is in 'read-only' status. How can I unlock the access to the disc via Macbook Air to upload documents?

Thank you!

Best wishes,

Asli

you need to reformat it ExFAT if you wish to use it between Windows and MacOS

if you plan to use it for Mac exclusively or for time machine you will need to reformat it MacOS Extended (Journaled)

macOS can not write to a NTFS formatted disk without 3rd party applications and gains no benefit by using it.
