Black screen on AppleTV app with sound and subtitles

Hey guys,

So my problem is the following:

When I open the TV app on the macbook pro the app functions properly up until I open any content.

When I try to see anything no video is shown and I have a black screen. It also happens on netflix if I use Safari. With chrome I have no problems.

I do have sound and subtitles working fine. Only problem is the video.

PS: The video doesn't have sound because I recorded with the apple record function cmd+shift+5 but it works.

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.15

Hi there, GonçaloFonseca!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you're having an issue with the Apple TV app and Safari showing videos with a black screen. Since the sound is working and you are able to play videos with Chrome, you should check out this article for How to reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac

I also recommend taking a look at this article with steps to follow to Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac. This will perform checks and stop certain software from starting up automatically. Once you are in safe mode, test to see if you have the same issue.

Let me know the results and have a wonderful day!
