trying to sync my contact between mbp and iphone. directions from communities says to first find iphone in finder sidebar. But it's not there! Devices isn't there altogether. Just favorites, icloud, locations but no iphone in locations. Please help.

If iCloud Drive is set up https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mchle5a61431/10.14/mac/10.14 the iPhone will be shown in iCloud.com as well in finder > iCloud Drive

I followed the instructions in this article on deleting entire contact file on iphone:

there were a few snafus toward the later stages of the instructions but i persevered.
Then, managed to move my contacts folder from my laptop to the iphone but cannot remember how.
All is well now. Kind of bumbled my way thru. Wish i had taken notes so this could be more useful to others.
What OS version is your mbp running? If running Mojave or earlier, try syncing using iTunes. If you are syncing Contacts using iCloud, you can't sync them using a computer.
running mojave. how do you sync using itunes? I've culled contacts and want to sync with iphone since it didn't sync since I did the deletions on the mac

Hi all. I managed to fix the issue and delete all the contacts on my iphone and then transfer the updated/culled list from my mbp to my phone. Thanks for your help anyway.
