Option + Spacebar = backwards slideshow

For many years now, I have been selecting photos in a Finder window (on my MacBook Pro), then hitting Option + Spacebar to present them as a slideshow. A while back, this feature started showing the photos in reverse order. This makes it very difficult to put do a quick and easy slideshow. It used to be so simple but now it is a major pain.

Does anyone know how I can fix this issue? Help!
