iPad Mini 2, iOS 12.4.5

On my home page, my messages app (with Badges turned on) has an exclamation mark in the red dot.

All messages have been read. How do I clear this notification?

The badge icon indicates a general error. The simplest method of resolving errors of this type is often simply a case of logging-out from the service, restarting your iPad - then login again to the service.


For Messages, you’ll need to log-out from iCloud - but before doing so, to preserve your Messages, verify that Messages are enabled in your iCloud Settings prior to logging out of iCloud.


Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Messages - verify set to ON


To log-out from iCloud:

Settings > [Your Name] > Sign Out


Restart your iPad:

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/ipad/ipad63d30b5a/ipados


After restart, login again to iCloud.
