Disabling burst mode when using the timer (iPhone 11)

On iPhone 6s you can turn off burst mode by enabling HDR when using the timer.

On iPhone 11 you can't use the timer without burst mode even when just HDR is enabled? If you enable flash, it disables burst mode. Why the need of the flash to disable burst mode?

What is this sorcery?

There's a reason why I need to use the Timer, if you can gather by my username, I have a disability, which has affected my detexterity, therefore, I can only use one hand and unable to use the phone like normal. To take photos, I use the timer, press the button, position the phone and wait. Simple

I see that you have a question about burst mode being enabled when using the timer when taking photos. I'd be happy to provide you with some information.

What you are experiencing is expected behavior. The only way to stop this would be like you mentioned, and to turn on the flash. Or you can also enable Live Photos and that should only take one photo when you are using the self-timer. You are also welcome to provide feedback on this to Apple.
