my apple watch stops recording when running exercise

When starting going cross country , the recording is set to pause after a while. Sometimes after 5 minutes and sometimes after 30 minutes. The temperature is below zero C. The settings is without automatic stop and start.

Here are some suggestions:

Restart both the Apple Watch and companion iPhone:
- Restart your iPhone

You can also calibrate the Apple Watch to make sure it's being detected that the workout is completed: Calibrating your Apple Watch for improved Workout and Activity accuracy
As a last step, try unpairing and paring the Apple Watch back up again: Unpair and erase your Apple Watch
