Passcode on iPhone changed for 4-digits to 6-digits on its own now I can’t access my phone!

I turned on my phone and now it is asking for a 6-digit passcode instead of the normal 4-digit passcode. I can’t now access my phone. Very frustrating. Has this happened to anyone else and, if so, how can it be resolved without a full restore (as the phone isn’t backed up).

Thanks

iPhone 8

Perhaps someone used your phone without your knowledge and change it? But if your phone is now asking for a passcode you don't know, there is only way to get past that and that is to erase your iPhone using your home home computer with iTunes. If you have been routinely backup up your phone, you can restore from backup.
