How do I install a .dict.dz dictionary in the Dictionary app?

As the subject says – I have some dictionaries as .dict and .dict.dz files. I'd like to install them in the Mojave dictionary, but absolutely can't work out how to do it.

Any tips?

If you're not into coding and completely lost, then no advice on how to get started will help. At minimum, you would have to know how to use Xcode, and the Apple Dictionary Development kit to create the .dictionary output from reading in the converted dictionary inputs. That means either Objective-C, or Swift, in addition to the Xcode learning curve. It is not clear that the .dict or .dict.dz format can be converted to the compatible .xml format that the Dictionary Development kit requires as input.

Thanks for the response, VikingOSX. Really appreciated (virkelig venlig, hvis du faktisk snakker 'viking'!)

Apparently Xcode and the Dictionary Development Kit is all you need, and the process of converting .dict to .dictionary is 'easily' done. But it's totally beyond me.

If anyone reading this is patient enough to talk me through the process I'd be really grateful, but I'm not holding my breath!
