Why does my iPhone get hot while charging?

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! I see you have a question about your iPhone and charging, and I'd like to help out.

Your iPhone can get warm when charging. If you have a case on it, try and remove the case while it's charging. Make sure it's sitting on a hard surface, nothing soft like a bed or carpet.

If you're not using the cable and wall adapter which came with your iPhone, try charging with those instead.
