FCPX export issue

Hi, I am not able to send a project from within FCP to Compressor. When exporting a project from FCPX via compressor my iMac freezes which then requires a reboot.

The work around I found is to export the project as a master file from within FCP.

Compressor is then able to export the master file without crashing.

This has only happened since upgrading to Mojave and the latest versions of both FCP and Compressor.

I wish there was a way to go back to High Sierra but my updated projects would no longer open.

As an alternative to "Send to Compressor", you can share out of FCP X using "Compressor Settings".

Go to Preferences->Destinations, drag "Compressor Settings" from the rectangle on the right to the list on the left to add a new destination. Rename and adjust as to use the desired settings you would use in Compressor.

Then all you should have to do is share directly from FCP X using this "destination", without having to launch Compressor itself.

Maybe it's time to upgrade my Mac which is what Apple would like us to do ever two years to keep up.

Your iMac should work OK and you shouldn't need to buy a later model, (unless you want to do that).

Did you reset the FCP X preferences?

Hold Option-Command as you launch FCP X.

You can also repair Compressor:

Compressor>Preferences>Advanced>Reset Queue:

ALL graphics cards that came built-in with macs that can run FCP X are compatible.

To switch SIP back on:

1) start you mac in recovery mode by holding down command-R

2) from the Utilities menu, choose Terminal

3) type

csrutil enable

4) Restart your mac normally

5) Just to make sure it is on, with your mac running normally, open Terminal and type

csrutil status

It should say "System Integrity Protection status: enabled."

I don't think that the CUDA software is compatible with Mojave; it could be causing problems.

It is not used by FCP X or Compressor, anyway.

Did you have a particular software in mind for installing CUDA?

You also have SIP disabled. This is putting your mac at risk, for apparently no reason. You should reconsider that.

Is the Pace software required by some third party program?

Hi Luis,

I installed the CUDA software today in relation to a post suggesting my video card maybe not compatible with the latest version of FCPX. The issue with compressor began when I updated to Mojave and he latest version of FCP.

I can't now go back to an older version of FCP as Apple have blocked that path. Once you update none of your new sessions will open without the latest version of FCPX.

What is SIP?

PACE is used to authorise my audio plugins.

Thanks

Dean

Final Cut Pro does not use CUDA at all, nor does Compressor. The driver you installed is only supported up to High Sierra, anyway.

SIP is System Integrity Protection. It should not be disabled, unless you absolutely know what you are doing, and then only temporarily.

The firewall being on is not bad but it is not doing anything if unnecessary services and ports and simply turned off.
