I hadn't turned my desktop on for awhile, and now I am unable to connect the keyboard to enter my password to get in--or to do work I assume once I get in. How do I go about reconnecting my keyboard?

What keyboard? If it has not been used for sometime, the batteries could be dead or worse corroded in the battery compartment.

Don’ t know because we have no idea exactly what iMac desktop or keyboard you have.
The keyboard can only pair with one device at a time. Try un-pairing it from your laptop first and then pairing it with your iMac.
I was able to pair the keyboard with my laptop and it worked fine. Could be the age of my desktop...
Thank you! I have no idea why the keyboard that ws paired with the desktop stopped working, but at least I now have a working solution.
