Did Apple replace the battery? If so the repair has a 90 day warranty.

If anyone else replaced the battery you got a battery of unknown quality. The only thing you can be sure of is it was not a genuine Apple battery, because Apple doesn’t sell batteries outside of its Apple Authorized Service Providers. What you describe is a symptom of a failing battery. What do you see if you go to Settings/Battery and tap on Battery Health?

If you didn’t have Apple replace it for $49 you overpaid, no matter how much you saved.

Well, the symptom of an unexpected shutdown when the battery level is high is usually caused by a battery with a high internal resistance. This would not show up as the battery health measurement. As it wasn’t an Apple battery, as I said, you have no idea what it’s quality is. But if you paid less than $25 it couldn’t have been a high quality battery.
