Mail Drop email disappeared!

Tried to email someone a number of photos along with a detailed message from my iPad. Apple Mail pop-up window said file was too large and gave me two options: use Mail Drop or try sending attachments anyway. I elected Mail Drop and it went out. My friend never got the email. My Sent folder is not showing anything has been sent. My ICloud is not showing the email anywhere nor the Mail Drop. Where did it disappear to?

iPad 2, iOS 9

Hey there willeecee,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand your email using Mail Drop had disappeared. I’ll be happy to help with this.

If Mail Drop was used and it showed as sent, did you check your iCloud Sent mailbox? Open Mail on your iPad, tap the word in the top left until you’re at Mailboxes. Tap on iCloud > Sent and check for the message there.

If you don’t see it there, were the attachments over 5 GBs in size? If so, this may be the reason the attachments are missing. Take a look at this article for more info on this:

Mail Drop limits

If you find your message in the sent box you may want to try sharing the photos once more. You can view the different sharing options here:

Regards.
