GoPro video is lagging in Preview but shown smoothly in QuickTime, VLC or any

Video from different GoPros (I tried Hero 3+, Hero 7 Black, Session 5) is lagging when watched in Preview but shown just fine in QuickTime, VLC, Final Cut Pro etc.

Usually, video starts lagging after 4-5 seconds, and during scenes with lots of camera movements. Activity Monitor doesn't show any heavy CPU/GPU usage when video is lagging.

I'm using 15" MBP 2017, 16Gb, but I had the same issue on 13" MBP 2013, and 16" MBP 2020, using Catalina, Mojave, and Hight Sierra.

I can't find any solutions for this problem. Any ideas?

So, you're saying "Not an issue, won't fix", right?

Preview can show and edit images, PDFs, play music, play and edit videos, sign documents, and god only knows what else it can do, and does most things almost perfectly. It's a super useful tool and the best embedded previewer among all platforms I've used (Windows and many Linuxes).

To me, it's a shame it can't handle GoPro videos when it's totally capable of.

I'm a software engineer, and I'm quite confident that Preview uses QuickTime via some API. I'm almost certain this issue is an easy fix for Apple.
