43 GB of ‘other’ on Iphone 8 Plus

My storage takes 43 GB of ‘other’ and I’m sure this is not normal. I’ve tried many things to fix it. I deleted all my apps (excerpt from WhatsApp) and I nearly have any photos left on my phone. This all to get some storage. Even deleting 8000 pictures, resetting settings and cleaning safari didn’t seem to help? The more I delete, the fuller ‘other’ gets. I basically can’t use my phone properly anymore. How did this happen and what can I do to fix this? Thanks a lot!

This data is most likely all the photos and vids you shared and saved in iMessage texting threads. You can use the new Manage Storage features in Catalina and also with your iPhone connected to clean it out. I cleaned out 20+GB of other files doing this. It was all old text threads with media embedded.

Also, I remember this being a big issue when the iPhone8 was a new model. Since iPhone X and 11 have been out and I have back-up - restore transferred to a newer device, the issue went away.

Good luck.

(iTunes of Finder) does not make sense, sorry i have no idea what this means. You can use Finder to manage your iPhone when connected though. It's a new feature in Catalina. ITunes is gone, and now called Apple Music. So manage your iPhone using Finder, not "Music" if your using Catalina.

You could also backup and restore the entire iPhone. This usually clears old "other" data that maybe left over from historical use.
