Macbook Pro camera doesn't work. "No Video".

Hi

I have an issue with my MacBook Pro (MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) that will not connect to the camera when using Facetime or Photo booth.

The message that I get after opening Facetime is "No video. FaceTime has not received any video from the connected camera. Restarting your computer may fix this issue". Only green light is blinking every couple of seconds.

I have Googled solution for this problem and tried different solutions but none of them didn't work. Here is the list of solutions that I have tried:

1 Kill VDCAssistant in Terminal

2 Restarting my Mac

3 Software on Mac are up to date

4 Run First Aid option in Disk Utility

5 Booting in safe mode

Could you please advice any other solutions to fix this annoying issue?

Looking forward to hear from you. Thanks in advance.

Best regards

William

Hi WilliamHolm,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

From your post, it looks like you have an issue with the camera connecting when using FaceTime or Photo Booth on your Mac. I want to help!

You have done a lot of troubleshooting already. Have you tested to see if the issue happens in a new user account? Here’s

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support

If the issue happens in a new user account as well, it may be a hardware issue. Here’s How to use Apple Diagnostics on your Mac - Apple Support

Hope that helps. Reach back out with any questions.

Best Regards!

Hi WilliamHolm,

Thank you for reaching back out to Apple Support Communities.

I see that you still have an issue with FaceTime not receiving video from the connected camera. You are not getting any hardware error codes when running Apple Diagnostics. I want to help. Let's see if it is a setting. You can reset the SMC. Here’s How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

Best Wishes!

Please refer to this recent Discussion: Internal camera MacBook Air.

1 Kill VDCAssistant in Terminal
2 Restarting my Mac
3 Software on Mac are up to date
4 Run First Aid option in Disk Utility
5 Booting in safe mode

The only potential solution missing from that list was reinstalling macOS from Recovery: How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery.

If that doesn't work I'm out of ideas.

Hi, have you found out a solution to this?

On this post there are few people experiencing the same issue "No video. FaceTime has not received any video from the connected camera. Restarting your computer may fix this issue" and it could be a software issue.

I tried almost everything without success. I you also tried to raise a bug report here https://www.apple.com/feedback/
