icloud photo sharing link not working

So my friend sent me a iCloud link that had photos on it and I clicked to accept it and waited for pictures to load. Then they didn’t load and took a while so I removed it from my camera roll in hoped i could just go back to the text message with the link and try again but it won’t let me. It says unable to retrieve shares photos and I don’t know how to fix it. I tried everything that was advised on other replies to similar questions but it doesn’t work.

I understand you're having trouble viewing some photos that were shared with you via iCloud. I'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

Since you're seeing the message, "unable to retrieve shared photos." You'll want to check with your friend to see if they are still sharing them. If they are, force quit Messages and restart your iPhone with these steps:

- How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Restart your iPhone

Once restarted try using the link again. If it's still not working, or you're seeing the same error message, ask your friend to send the photos over again. If you again encounter a slow download, try connecting on another network.
