I don't like a quality of build in signature recognition or trackpad signing feature.

Preview is not designed to manage, or incorporate externally sourced signature images for inclusion with PDF, or other image content. Because Preview is not a PDF editor, it cannot overlay other image content as replacement signature annotations. You could incorporate your non-Preview signature images in source documents prior to PDF generation.
You would have to trial the PDF Editors represented in the Mac App Store, from the respective vendors support sites, to determine if they will help you achieve your image signature goal.

Create a signature using your computer’s built-in camera: Click Camera. Hold your signature (on white paper) facing the camera so that your signature is level with the blue line in the window. When your signature appears in the window, click Done. If you don’t like the results, click Clear, then try again.
