Since upgrade to Catalina my Mac apps are doubled, like the app store, automator app.

Any way that I can delete the non-used apps?

Mac mini 2018 or later

Hi Leroy,

Thanks a lot for your help. Suddenly today I could delete the double older programs. Really strange, but now all is solved. I think it was the update of Mac itself.

Have a nice Easter weekend!

Seems something went side ways or you re-installed the macoS after some issue....

You can start over from Recovery. Erase/reformat the parent drive

Recovery: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904

Disk Utility >View>Show All Devices> here you select the parent drive not the Container or child Volumes

This will wipe ALL data. After you reinstall the macOS restore your user data from your backups.

3-2-1 Backup Strategy: three copies of your data, two different methods, and one offsite.

Boot clone https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-10081

How to use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201250

Use DiskUtility Restore feature https://support.apple.com/guide/disk-utility/restore-a-disk-dskutl14062/mac

note:

>System Preferences>Security & Privacy >Privacy>Full Disk Access

unlock the padlock, press the + button and add Disk Utility

Hi Leroy,

Thanks for your help. but it didn't work. Restore doesn't seem to select the volumes below.. Most of the programs seem to be on Mactintosh HD -Data.

Boot into Recovery (Command R) and from the dropdown menu: Utilities>  Disk Utility> run the First Aid on your Macintosh HD (and the "Macintosh HD-Data" volume as well if Catalina) If errors are found and repaired, run again until no errors reported.

Hi Leroy,

Thanks for your detailed answers so far. Unfortunately it didn't work. I've run the first aid on all volumes and then restored Catalina.

Do I need to restore to the main disk Apple HDD Media Disk in the boot mode? Or do I delete the image or the other drive (Mactintosh HD or Macintosh - Data). Or do I have to do something completely different?

Thanks a lot in advance!
