Logic Pro X recognizes MIDI device, but no signal

New to Logic, using a Roland um-one for midi controller. It shows up in logic as a midi device input, but it doesn't control anything. I've tried everything I can find, everything looks right in the Environment, it just doesn't work.

What do you have in preferences setup? see pic.

Delete what you have there. Then first try automated search, if thatr isn't working then manually add device with new -> install. If your device is not listed choose the first option "recording light".

Hope it helps (a tiny bit)

Yeah, this happens all the time to me and it often wastes mornings where I should be working. Every thread that I read seems to get resolved with "suddenly it started working again" with no real solution given.

I have my Midi connected through a Zoom TAC-R2 which works absolutely perfectly in other applications such as Finale. So the Hardware is NOT the issue.

In Logic going to Preferences--> MIDI--> Reset all Drivers sometimes works but not always.

I really need concrete advice how I can get Logic running properly without having to play it all by chance!
