Restore process has failed. The destination does not have enough space. Click Done to continue.

I have a HDD disk in my mac. It has 170 GB occuped. I want to change all to a SDD disk, that y have external (until i change them). I am making restore in Disk Utility from HDD to SDD, but it says:

"Restore process has failed. The destination does not have enough space. Click Done to continue."

My SDD is empty, i dont undestand. please help me. It has 240 GB of capacity.

I attach photos for you to see what i say.

If you have a Time Machine backup of the HDD, then replace the HDD with the SSD on the Mac, boot from the Time Machine, erase the whole SSD, and restore the TM backup to the SSD. The HDD is your 'safe' source.

Post the output of

diskutil apfs list

If you want to migrate from the internal disk to the SSD, then

Install the same version of macOS as it is on the HDD
Drag files in the Documents/Desktop/Pictures folders to the corresponding SSD folder.

Time Machine will make this much easier.

Thanks, thats helpfull. I had just finished my time machine copy. the problem is that I cant conect the disc where my copy is at the same time with te SSD. thats why the time machine copy can't help me. I will choose to drag files manually i think. thank you!
