For some reason my Apple TV 4K is only displaying Dolby Vision in 8-bit on my LG C9. Everything else hooked up to the LG plays in 10/12-bit Dolby Vision (i.e. UHD Blu-Rays). If I change to plain HDR, it'll play in 10/12-bit.

That can't be my problem my TV is from 2016 and does not support Dolby Vision at 60hz.
Are you sure you are using match framerate and match hdr range.
Normally SDR is 8-bit HDR is 10-bit and Dolby Vision is 12-bit.
How do you know Dolby Vision is only 8-bit?
'm in the process of troubleshooting Dolby Vision myself all over the place.
The built-in movies app. The ones I buy off of iTunes.
I put it through my AVR. Listed as 4K 60Hz Dolby Vision RGB 8 bit.
