Touch ID Fails Following Day

I don't know how many times I've deleted and re-registered fingerprints on my iPad only to have it not work the following day.


Each time I go through this process I choose two fingers, the same two every time, index and thumb. When registering the fingerprints, my hands (and fingers) are clean and dry. I can successfully register both prints. The following day, with clean and dry hands and fingers, I cannot use either of the newly registered prints to unlock my iPad.


The Home button is also dry and clean.
