Magic Mouse 1 not scrolling

Just updated my iPad Pro to iPadOS 13.4, and was able to pair my Magic Mouse 1 to it. Point and click work just fine, however can't get scrolling gesture to work. Is this a known bug or is it just me ?

Apple documentation is very clear as to the user interface devices supported by the iPadOS 13.4 update. The Apple Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad 2 all have full support - plus generic support is added for third-party input devices.

The original Magic Mouse and Trackpad were not designed or intended to operate with iPadOS - and whilst not supported by iPadOS, remain fully operable with the Mac computers for which they were designed to operate.

Generic device support provides basic input functionality. For example, many Mice require a manufacturer-supplied “driver” to be installed to enable additional “buttons” (beyond the basic/generic left/right mouse-buttons) and any proprietary “touch” functionality. Additional device driver installation is not (and never has been) supported on iOS platforms. For this reason, basic devices, such as a “basic” mouse seem to have full OS support - whereas a feature-rich Mouse (with many bells-and-whistles) only provides its basic functions when connected to iPad.

Many here are clearly disappointed in that the older-generation Magic Mouse/Trackpad, expressly designed for Mac, are not supported by iPadOS - however, all computing systems have limits as to the type of devices that it can support. Older hardware and devices are often not forward-compatible with new operating systems.

Hopefully, Apple is not such a short-sighted, and by listening to its users, they bring an update to fix this problem. Then I will be sorry for this time you spent here in a way that I don't understand why (assuming you are not a seller with a high stock of mm2 in your hand).

Then we may need another update from Apple to make emojis a little bit more red :)

I have no stake in this argument, either way.

I don't even want/use mice/trackpad on an iPad!

So, I really do not care, either way.

But Apple wants to use all of its current iOS/iPadOS compatible devices with its most current accessories AND the MM2 and MTP2 are Apple's most current input device accessories.

So, let's see if Apple will include future full support for its 10-year old MM1 and MTP1, or not.

I am in the camp of leave my iPad as a tablet device for which it was originally designed and intended and stop trying to make an iPad into a laptop, already.

It is admirable that your insistence on creating a perception as if there is a huge technology difference between these 2 versions of simple device although their only functionally difference is the battery type. Sorry but no matter how hard you try nobody believes this, and therefore the common perception of many people here is that apple is a company that is insufficient to support even its own product properly.

How do any of us know if there isn't any other differences in these Apple trackpad and mice versions?

I can't use the MM2 or MTP2 with my 2009 and 2010 iMacs.

I can ONLY use the older 2009 1st versions of these Apple input devices.

So, something had to change between the technology in these Apple version 1 and 2 input devices other than just a battery design change.

I think one of the changes with the MM2 and MTP 2 is its compatibilty with only Bluetooth 4.0 compatible devices.

Older iPads and older Macs use an older Bluetooth spec.

Maybe some other differences between the version 1 and 2 model input devices, as well.

There's gotta be some other internal technology changes to explain why these newer MM2 and MTP2 devices fail to work with older Macs and why Apple is NOT fully supporting the MM1 and MTP1 on iOS/iPadOS.

I think even apple did not expect such supporters when deciding between selling new products and loosing trust. if they insist on this ridiculous situation we will see you again when a new ipad is released that 1st gen pen is not working and 2nd gen is working well. Maybe you will say that the 1st gen is not supported because of the superior tech of magnets in 2nd.

Uhhh say what you want idc but... my other mouse is a decade old and it scrolls... scrolling is a function on this mouse, that is created by apple. Headphone jack works and that’s more than a decade old. It seems more a optimization software issue than a hardware one. The left click and right click function works, so one would assume at least the scrolling function should work.

I use a 2017 5K iMac. Top-of-the-line config. Ever since I loaded OS X 10.15.6, my Magic Mouse 2 has been messed up. It works okay for maybe 10-15 minutes, then the scroll feature and right mouse button stop working. I can restore it by turning the mouse off for a few second and then turning it back on. After that, it works fine for maybe 10 minutes before it does it again.

I have cold rebooted multiple times. Have removed and re-installed the mouse. I have removed plist files, etc., and looked for any sort of Bluetooth-induced problem. No matter what I do, the mouse still goes stupid after 10-15 minutes.

If it stayed that way I would figure my mouse was damaged, yet a simple restart makes the mouse work fine. That's why I am convinced this is a Bluetooth driver issue. Until I updated the OS, everything worked fine.

Hello, Apple. Can you help me out, here?
