How to create a GUID partition for Macintosh HD

I have tried all the steps for creating a new Macintosh HD and then trying to use that for the reinstallation of Mac OS but it keeps on telling me that I don’t have a GUID partition and I can’t change it. I have a 2010 I Mac

I'm assuming a iMac 2010 came with Snow Leopard on the included gray system disks.


If BDAqua's link doesn't help you along, boot to Disk 1 of the gray DVDs. Launch Disk Utility and erase the physical drive, choosing GUID as the partition map, and Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
