Hi, I have an odd situation. I am trying to update my AW2. I have updated iPhone to iOS 13.4 and my AW2 runs the latest previous watchOS. The update downloads but fails to install. The process fails during Verification. I tried rebooting both iPhone X and AW2. I deleted the update and redownloaded it again. No use. It still fails. Does anyone have the same issue?
Thanks andy90e... this worked for me. I had tried everything (restart phone, watch... even un-pair, wipe watch, re-pair, etc.).
In the end, I turned off Bluetooth and WiFi on my phone, then went into the watch and selected update. It took a while for it to download and verify the update but it did install.
FWIW, when I re-connected the phone to the watch via bluetooth it threw an error saying the update didn't work... but it did. I think that was a replica of the phone being confused since it couldn't see the watch and had been trying to update.
Updating from the Watch is a great suggestion. If that doesn’t work, please switch off WiFi in your watch and phone and switch to Mobile Data. Try updating from the Watch again.
Another one here. Watch Series 1. Tried everything including unpairing and pairing to a different phone.
Updating from the watch worked first time.
Did 6.2 directly from my Apple Watch 2 and it finally works

When I had this problem I installed from the watch not the phone and it worked fine.
Power off your iPhone, with AW2 on charger go into settings general software uprage.
Thank you, Florian. I managed to start the installation process from the watch itself. It passed the verification stage and now I see the upgrade progress indicator on the watch face. I hope it completes successfully. Thanks for the tip!
I have been dealing with this since the update came out. I have followed every step mentioned in these post. Today I have spent over 2 hours on the phone with apple and this update has consumed a big part of my day. I am most frustrated that both apple representatives told me there were no reports that this was an issue and the second one even encouraged me to look into getting a new watch, which is what I have been trying to avoid. Finally, I do it from my watch as suggested here and my watch is up to date and not longer needs replaced. Clearly I am not the only one with this issue and apple should be figuring this problem out.
I had a similar problem. After checking the phone software update, I realized I wasn’t using the current update. After updating the phone, I started the process. It went smoothly after that. On another watch, I had to start the install on the watch rather than on the phone. Try those, you may be successful. Good luck.

The watch takes quite a while to reboot, so don’t worry about it sitting on the logo screen for a few minutes. Seems that launching any update directly from the watch, rather than the phone, results in a more robust attempt at updating. It’s never been a problem for me before the last 2 weeks, but hey ho - it worked!
Your watch must connect to your phone by Bluetooth , then it uses the WiFi off your phone , go to settings , general on your watch software update and it should download and install it
We still cannot the update install.
Pardon me, but how can it possibly update if WiFi and Bluetooth are DISABLED on the watch AND phone when the watch does not have cellular service? Is there some magical techno-sprite in the watch that we don't know about?
Your watch does not need cellular service as it connects to your phone , if the WiFi gets turned on then you can update via the watch which will use the phones WiFi network
