True, very likely it’s a modem or connectivity issue that drains the battery. Since iPhone 7 Apple uses modem chips from Intel and ever since any new iPhone has problems with WiFi and network signal. If you search about that there are more threads than here for the battery. Many times Apple has tried to compensate that poor signal with software adjustments and perhaps these time they had it wrong and so we all have batteries drained at faster rate. Also getting WiFi signal or using an iPhone for a hot spot is real pain, I was forced to switch to Android just to keep myself connected, even though I like Apple more as final product I have no problems with huawei phone but a lot with expensive iPhone , that ironically I can only use as back up phone or camera. Not happy.

I've commented quite a lot on this thread and others. I have an iPad Pro that worked flawlessly - with 20 hours on a charge. After updating to iOS 12 my battery life went to 4 hours. From 20 hours to 4 hours - that happened 8 months ago. I've done two factory resets, one not from back up. Reset everything. My battery health is 92%. The problem is most definitely the iOS. I've worked with many Apple Support advisers - most of whom seemed compassionate - some of whom were terrible - and a couple who were indeed "supportive." In the end they said just hope for an update that will help. One adviser had the nerve to tell me to buy a new device - can you imagine? I feel incredibly troubled by what's happened - my very expensive device is of little use since I'm chained to an electrical outlet every 4 hours. Keep sending complaints to Apple.com/feedback for your device and fingers crossed we'll get a remedy to this problem.

is that the reason why my phone give me 3hrs on screen time with sim but data off and give me about 8hrs with wifi but no sim

You noted above that you have a poor cellular signal. That will use up battery very quickly. That is expected behavior. Rather than take the SIM out, put the phone in Airplane mode and turn WiFi back on.

So it appears the answer is to turn everything off making your smart phone stupid. Might as well just carry a block of wood around.

I actually don’t have a problem with my phone, but I’m on 13.3.

My problem is my iPad mini 4 that no longer lasts days of typical use on a charge. I thought it was getting better from using 20% per hour, it was up to, or down to, using 15%. But, alas, it was not to be.

in about a 36 hour period, it used 95% of the battery with a whopping 2 hours and 49 minutes of screen time. Don’t tell me it’s a faulty iPad. The problem started immediately after updating to 13.3 and persists after the next updates I’ve done in hopes of fixing it. Bluetooth and location is off. It’s been reboot, reset, and restored.

Almost as irritating is that since these updates, I have to delete my junk mail 3 times instead of once. Delete it and it reloads right back in less than a second. Delete again, it goes to trash, where I delete again.

amazingly my phone is fine. 8plus. Including deleting junk mail.

There has been a major miracle.

I noticed my phone was cold after being in charge all night and sure enough at the end of the day I still had about 40% battery left.

I didn’t change anything but left on charge again overnight and it was still ok so turned app refresh, Siri etc back on and still ok.

this happened about 4 days after upgrading to 13.5 beta 3 and initially battery drain was horrific.

hopefully I’ve got my phone back after a year plus.

Deggie and everyone else on this thread - I have worked with Apple Support for more than six months. The iOS 12, then iOS 13 updates ruined my iPad Pro. It went from 20 hours on a charge, to 4 hours on a charge. Please everyone keep speaking up - we will get a fix! Use this site to share your experience : Apple.com/feedback - and choose your device. Thanks!

When I posted 2-3 weeks ago I was having issues with my iPhone 11 Pro Max, the battery was at around 10% by 7 pm which is not terrible but made me have to charge it if I wanted it to last more, which started giving me a little battery anxiety. After now 2 weeks my phone is almost back to what it was before, with 40% by midnight after a normal day of use. I guess there was some indexing done on the first days after updating to the new iOS but it is pretty much normal again.

Update:

recap: 4 days after upgrading to 13.5 beta 3 my phone suddenly calmed down & the cpu settled down to under 10% utilisation (previously 95-100%) which means the battery still has 40% at the end of the day.

Phone is still behaving its self a couple of days later but last night with 25% battery the phone shut down & rebooted when it cam back up it had 10% battery 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 in less than a minute so quickly stuck it on charge. Phone is still ok but they obviously haven't fixed the issue with reboots & the iOS knowing how much power there is or isn't in the battery.

Never ending iPhone SE battery drain disaster, since upgrading about 5 weeks ago from 12.4.6 to 13.4.1, complete reset, everything possible disabled, it's now like a Motorola phone from the the 90s except that the Motorola phone's battery lasted for weeks instead of hours. NO WAY TO DOWNGRADE BACK TO IOS 12 - WHAT A SHAME. If Apple doesn't fix this problem the SE will be my last iPhone ever. I Intended to replace my 15" MacBook Pro with the new 16" MacBook Pro - forget it! BTW I'm an Apple customer since 1991 and bought more than 20 Macs during this time, 4 iPads, 3 iPhones and 2 Apple TVs.
