Printing from iMac to Cannon Pixma Printer via Wireless LAN won't work

I can print fine from my iPad Pro and my iPhone, but no longer from my iMac which worked fine the first 6 months. I have re-installed the Canon printer, tried many times to to reset on printer. Does anyone know what the problem is? I always install OS updates and have El Capitan 10.11.6

iMac and Wireless Printing? Hi folks, just wondering if anyone here can help... I have a late 2012 iMac which I have updated to High Sierra 10.13.6... I've just bought a new wireless printer from HP and once connected with USB it prints fine, didn't need to download anything... seems to have recognised it automatically, however I have no idea how to get the wireless printing to work? I connected through WiFi but nothing happens and it says "printer not responding"... if it uses WiFi does that mean I have to switch off my Internet WiFi connection on the iMac to use the printer? USB printer offline after switching from Ethernet to WiFi? I'm trying to figure out the following: I have an HP LaserJet Pro printer (M404) connected to my iMac via USB. The iMac is connected to the LAN via Ethernet. The printer is shared to the network. When the network is connection is via Ethernet, both from the iMac itself and the LAN, the printer is available. If I switch the network connection to use WiFi (different subnet to Ethernet) instead, even from the iMac itself, the printer is marked as offline and I can't bring it back online? I enabled 'allow printing from the internet' in the CUPS administration interface, but this has not helped. Any ideas of a) why this is happening and b) how I get this working on both connections? Any help is appreciated.

Please follow the troubleshooting steps in If you can't print from your Mac or iOS device. You may need to do a printer reset (one of the steps in the advice letter), however please go through the steps in order.
