Apple Watch continuously prompting for old Apple ID password.

I changed the Apple ID on my phone, which was paired with my Apple Watch. Now my watch asks me to enter my old Apple ID's password. I enter it and it's accepted, then the watch says it will send a verification code to my phone, and I never receive it. I'm now getting these prompts 12 times per day.
