I can’t see my videos with IOS 13.4

Hi,

I have a 2018 iPad Pro and after upgrading iOS 13.4 I can no longer see videos not purchased on iTunes through the Apple TV app. Every time I get the message “there’s a problem loading this content”. I’m desperate.

I’ve figured out the problem. It’s with AAC surround sound audio. My content works if I use AAC 2-channel audio or AC3, but AAC 6-channel audio, which is what most of my videos are, is the problem. Fortunately it’s easy to convert the audio so that it works, but still annoying since I have several hundred videos that will need converting.

It may still be a bug, or Apple decided that AAC surround sound was no longer acceptable and didn’t tell us.

You can set up a batch encoding pretty easy. I would just add another audio stream instead of replacing one.

It's smart enough to search for a compatible stream before it gives up.

FFMPEG would sail through that pretty quick.

Same. 11” iPad Pro LTE 2018 version. Worked fine with EVERY ITERATION OF iOS EXCEPT 13.4. I tried playing in Infuse and nPlayer. SAME ERROR.

@apple of all the times to introduce a software bug! Are you kidding me?

Is this a doj & FTC worthy complaint regarding an attempt by @apple to force us to buy content through iTunes to boost short term revenue and profits? Even if this bug lasts for a couple days it’ll be million$ for @apple considering everyone is stuck @ home.

Mods delete this post and I’ll take a screenshot and include it my complaint.

Making threats is hardly constructive - regardless of your evident frustration. As already suggested by MitchelPM, you can post feedback to Apple via the appropriate channels.

Except Apple advertises the new iPad as compatible with H.264 like every one before it. I’ve had issues with content encoded to H.265 because Apple devices aren’t compatible with that.

I don’t think you read my response. These videos have worked and continue to work no problem on other devices with the previous iOS, 13.3. Nothing about the videos or the way they are encoded has changed. It is quite clear a bug has occurred that prevents the videos from being played in 13.4.

Using a mixture of x265 & x264 for video codecs & mostly encoding now with 128Kbps AAC 2 channel stereo to save server space (& watch wearing headphones usually). There are quite a few files encoded with DTS 5.1 also. The Plex server shows Direct Stream for both video & audio on any video I have checked through it. All the devices accessing the Plex servers other than the Windows PC’s are using the Plex App from the App Store on the iPad’s, iPhones & Apple TV 4th gen boxes. Any files smaller than 4GB that I have tried playing back from a USB-C stick via Files all have played back with no issues.

The “no real reason” was before the *Edit* piece was added & used as a general term for most of the issues posted on this board in not all people are affected by some of the issues reported yet others are. Granted there are some issues that are actual bugs but most reported issues are not. I don’t see why there is so much aggression in some posts when people are offering suggestions or their own experiences. Not as if it is going to help, more likely put people off wanting to help even if they have the solution.
