Macbook pro A1278 battery shows -221 mA when plugged in

Hi,

I recently replaced the old battery in my macbook and now I noticed it only charged up to 6%. I tried SMC reset, I tried removing the battery and cleaning the ports and nothing works. Battery information shows that the battery installed but not charging, condition normal & amperage -221 even when it is plugged in. Did I just get a faulty battery or is my laptop just too old and giving up?

Hi it’s not the original Apple battery. I went into apple mid last year due to a service notification with the battery. I was told my laptop is old so I should just get another but for now change the battery. I got a replacement on amazon and around the first week in February I noticed my laptop wouldn’t charge to 100%. Only about 6%. I decided to get another battery thinking that I got a faulty one and the same thing is happening at first it started at 50% but has never charged over 50. It is actually on 6%. I tried letting the 6% run out and recharge but it only goes to 6%.
